E-filing Status in Marathon County
Marathon County Probate is now mandatory e-filing PR (Formal Probate), IN (Informal Probate), GN (Guardianship), and ME (Commitment) case types. Voluntary e-filing for JA/AD (Adoptions) and Juvenile Guardianships and Juvenile Mental Commitments is now available. TP (Termination of Parental Rights) will be voluntary shortly. At present, attorneys and high-volume agents with 10 or more cases are required to e-file. If you have any questions, please contact our office.
Federal Mileage Rate
The 2018 federal mileage reimbursement rate is 54.5 cents a mile.
Transfer by Affidavits
Please be advised that due to significant changes to the law regarding the transfer by affidavit process under Sec. 867.03 Wis. Stats., the Marathon County Register in Probate Office will not provide the TRANSFER BY AFFIDAVIT form. If you have questions about the transfer by affidavit process, please talk to an attorney or research the law to learn what your obligations are and what restrictions might apply to you in using this process. The form, applicable statute, and 2017 Acts 90 and 332 revising the statute can be found online. The current printed edition of the statutes do not contain the revisions and should not be relied upon as accurate.
