SERVICE - is responsively delivering on our commitments to all of our internal and external customers.

   We know we are living the core value of Service when we:

● Make ourselves accessible by phone, e-mail or in-person for information, consultation and legal advice and prioritize our workload to respond to inquiries and messages in a timely manner

provide appropriate legal representation in third party matters or legal actions when we are a party or represent an agency by virtue of regulation or statute

● Offer to serve on committees, focus groups or teams that serve the county or public & meeting  our time commitments for meetings & participation

● Prepare adequately, produce concise and accurate work product and meet commitments in a timely manner

●When the public or another County Department contacts our office with a question and we can’t answer  or we are the wrong  department to address their  concerns, we attempt to direct, transfer or connect them with the individual or department most likely to assist them

 

INTEGRITY - is honesty, openness, and demonstrating mutual respect and trust in others.

    We know we are living the core value of Integrity when we:

● Protect confidentiality

● Listen and communicate openly without personal bias or prejudice & respond honestly

● Consistently treat clients, county employees and the public with a professional and respectful attitude

● Comply with applicable professional codes of ethics in their entirety and respect that those we deal with may have codes of ethics  for their behavior or professional conduct

● Are dependable in our promises, commitments and work product so that others know they can rely on us to provide for their legal service needs

● Cross coverage & covering other’s workload during leave time

● Provide legal services in an atmosphere where people are treated with understanding, fairness and dignity

● Promote professional and respectful behaviors in contested legal matters and civil conflicts  to advance efficient and civil resolutions – providing our legal expertise on substance and procedure when appropriate

● Stay current in our knowledge of the areas of law in which we specialize and the job skills required for our position

● Provide legal services  that are a result of thorough research and analysis; appropriate preparation for hearings, meetings and other commitments

● Seek input and feedback from the agencies we represent and take all reasonable action necessary to provide better service

● Actively seek out opportunities for continuous improvement and make full use of development and educational opportunities provided and we adopt improved processes

● Consistently make productive use of our work time

● Invest in our employees by promoting continuing education and training through in‐house training,  continuing legal education, conferences and other educational opportunities pertinent to improved job performance

● Are comprehensive in our legal work, looking for practical, realistic solutions to problems which achieve our intended objectives and minimize the amount of time invested in unnecessary litigation

● We are mindful of the cost of waste and unnecessary consumption of products on both natural and financial resources - reduce, reuse and recycle

● We support and encourage a healthy lifestyle, leisure and vacation time to decrease stress and promote physical & mental health
