Sexually transmitted diseases (STD) represent the largest percentage of all reportable diseases in Marathon County. The STD program at Marathon County Health Department has two components:
Untreated sexually transmitted diseases can cause serious infections for the person infected and an unborn baby. It is important that anyone who thinks that they may have a STD get tested and treated as necessary to prevent further spread. HIV is a disease that affects the immune system, making the person infected very susceptible to other diseases. Marathon County Health Department offers confidential testing for HIV at our STD clinics. Partner Services are available for those diagnosed with the disease.
