The Parks Recreation and Forestry Department recommends that everyone wear blaze orange clothing while in any of the County Forest Units or outlying County Parks adjacent to private property during any statewide gun deer hunts or any other hunting season.
Hunting and trapping seasons
Marathon County has nine forest units totaling 30,195 acres. The units have diverse features available to the public including mixed uplands, marshes, water impoundments and wildlife openings for a variety of activities. A county overview map of the forest units can be found below:

Overnight camping in County Forests
There is no overnight horse camping allowed in any of the County Parks or developed campgrounds in those parks.
The use of electric mountain bikes (eMTB) falls under the definition of a self-propelled motor bicycle and is prohibited by ordinance at Nine Mile and all other County Forest lands.
