Update Monday, August 12:  There has been a change in the last days for Wausau outdoor pools. Schulenburg and Kaiser closed for the season on August 11. Memorial Pool will remain open until August 18. This change is due to the Dog Gone Pool Party that can only be accommodated at Memorial Pool due to fencing issues.

**Family Definition:  All family members must permanently reside at the same dwelling.  There must be at least one adult (18 yrs.+) but not more than 2 adults, both which must be the parents or legal guardians of the children.  All siblings 18 years old and older must purchase a separate adult pass.
All additional adults would have to get a separate adult pass.
48" is the minimum height in order to go down any pool slide.

Parents with nonswimming children are encouraged to ask pool staff for lifejackets for their children to wear while they are at the pool. We recommend children under 6 years be accompanied by a responsible older youth or adult at the pool.

FREE Swim Thursdays from 6 - 7:50 p.m. all pools; no minimum age; everyone welcome! Swim for half-price after 6pm at all the pools every evening except Thur. when its FREE after 6pm.There is no minimum age limit. Infants and toddlers who aren't toilet trained must wear swim diapers.

Basic Swimming $39 $47.50
  • Small-fry, (Beginner Swimmer) Child must be at least 5 years of age to take this class. No prior swimming experience is necessary.
  • Gold Fish, (Advanced Beginner Swimmer) Child must be able to demonstrate the following skills on the first day of class: Safe entry from the side or stairs, blow bubbles, front and back float with support, alternating arm and leg motion with support and roll from front to back and back to front with support. Recover to standing from front or back float with support.
  • Bluegill, (Intermediate Swimmer) Child must have passed Small-Fry and Gold Fish. Class covers stroke development, water safety, and seated and kneeling head-first water entry.
  • Porpoise, (Advanced Swimmer) Student must have passed Small-Fry, Gold Fish, and Bluegill to participate. Class covers deep water bobbing, and advanced water safety.

Families looking for free life jackets and hands-on water safety skills are welcome. This is an in-water event for kids and adults, and swim suits are required. Safety skills offered include: boating safety, life jacket safety, deep water safety, reach-throw-wading assists, and hypothermia prevention. Participants are eligible for free swimming after the program. Pre-registration is required. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Your Library and Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department invite you to a Library Swim Day. Members of the Marathon County Public Library's Summer Reading Club or anyone with a library card can enter for free. Date: Tuesday, August 6, Swimming: 1-7:50pm, Location: Kaiser Pool, 900 E Bridge St., Schulenburg Pool, 1553 Summit Dr., Memorial Pool, 500 Memorial Park Rd., Fee: Free with a Summer Reading Club ticket, or present one member's Library Card and the entire family gets in at no charge. Ride your bike to the pool. Arrive between 1 and 2:30 pm and get in for free. Riders receive free entry into the pool for the day and a coupon for a free cone or train ride at Marathon Junction in Marathon Park.

Kaiser, Memorial, And Schulenburg Pool Private Rental Rates: Pools are available to rent for private parties from June 15 - Aug. 16, 2019 on Saturday and Sunday mornings 9am to Noon.  Reservations must be made at the Park Office, 212 River Drive, Suite #2. You must be 18 years of age, to rent the pool.

Marathon Park Splashpad

Spring Lifeguard Class
Get your lifeguard certification and a great outdoor summer job or one that works around your school schedule at an indoor pool during the rest of the year. Candidates must be at least 15 years of age when the class begins and must be able to swim 300 yards, retrieve a brick from the deep end and bring it back to the shallow end in 1 minute and 45 seconds, and tread water for two minutes without using their hands. This is a blended class with on-line learning as well as classroom and water rescue training. Dates: May 8, 9, 10 and 11, 2019, Times: 4 to 8 pm, May 8, 9, 10 and 9 am to 5 pm on May 11. Location: John Muir Pool, 1400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau WI 54401, Fee: $150.00 (includes books, mask, and American Red Cross certification fee)

American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Class
Become a certified lifeguard and get great year-round, part-time or seasonal, full-time employment at great pools in your community. You must be 15 years of age to take this class and pass a basic water fitness test that includes a 300 yard swim, a timed retrieval of a brick from deep water with return swim using legs only (max time 1:40), and two minutes of treading water with legs only. Maximum class size is 10 students. Dates: July 22 - Aug. 2, Times: 10 am to 12 pm, Location: Schulenburg Pool, 1533 Summit Drive, Wausau 54401 Fee: $150.00 (includes book, pocket mask, and certification fees)
