As of April/May 2004, a large part of the Hazard Mitigation Planning process has involved data collection, resource inventory and review of existing materials and resources used in the development of the Comprehensive Plan. Currently, we are moving into the part of the process where the public will have an important role in developing goals and identifying potential mitigation actions. The public will be notified of dates and times of upcoming public meetings where the Hazard Mitigation Plan will be discussed.
Nov/Dec 2004 - A Draft Hazard Mitigation Plan is now available for review! A link to the document and a comment sheet can be found below. Please send any comments by January 21, 2005 to Jerome Boettcher, Marathon County Emergency Management, 500 Forest Street, Wausau, WI 54403 or Fax: (715) 849-7788.
April 2005 - Thanks to those communities that have already provided comments! The plan was very recently reviewed by Wisconsin Emergency Management (WEM). We would like to solicit any additional community comments at this time, which will be incorporated with the State's comments. The input of each community is very important to the planning process. In order to get your comments incorporated into the plan, please provide comments by Friday, May 20. Please direct your comments/questions to Jerome Boettcher at the address listed above.
Following May 20th, the document will be finalized and re-distributed. All incorporated communities will then be asked to formally adopt the document by resolution. Instructions and a sample resolution will also be distributed at this time, along with a timeline for adoption. Towns will be included in the resolution that will be adopted by the County. Thanks for your participation!
