Have you ever wanted to be a member of a SWAT Team? How about drive a squad car in a pursuit? This may be your opportunity! The Marathon County Sheriff’s Department is seeking applicants for our Citizen’s Law Enforcement Academy. The Academy is an introduction to what it is like to be a Marathon County Sheriff’s Deputy. The Academy consists of classroom training combined with interactive sessions, including Patrol operations, evidence collection and processing, pursuit driving, and response to an active shooter situation.
The Academy consists of 10 weekly, 3.5 hour sessions Thursday evenings from September through November. A small class size increases the interaction between Department members and participants. Please see the attached schedule for additional details.
Please complete this form and submit to the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office to Lt. Frank Hanousek. This is an open enrollment application. You will be notified of your acceptance by email at least 2 weeks before the start of class. Those applicants not selected for this Academy will be contacted for preference in future Academies.

The purpose of the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department Citizen’s Law Enforcement Academy is to give the public a working knowledge of the department’s operation, policies, and procedures. The Academy is not designed to prepare individuals for work in the law enforcement field. The Academy is aligned with the Department Mission to build trust between the Department and the public, and to create a partnership to increase the safety and security of the Marathon County community.
