Committee Type and Reporting Relationship: The Marathon County Extension and Education Committee coordinates through the Education and Economic Development Committee to the County Board

Mission/Purpose Statement: Provide educational programming in partnership with the University of Wisconsin system.

Statutory Responsibilities: This committee functions under Wis. Stats. 59.56(3).

Membership: Total of 5 committee members consisting of 5 County Board Supervisors

Member Term: All members are appointed for a two year term which coincides with biennial organization of the County Board - Appointed by the County Board Chair and confirmed by the County Board. Committee vacancies will be filled according to County Board Rule 13.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Establish UW County based extension department policy

2. Provide budget oversight for UW County based extension department

3. Provide input and monitor their performance on the County based UW Extension programming

4. Create policies and strategies that accomplish educational needs in an efficient and cost effective manner

5. Provide a leadership role with the County Board and other community partners to preserve and enhance access to the resources of the public university

6. Assess future community educational needs

7. Facilitate a partnership between the County and the University of Wisconsin
