Randy Albert started with the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office on June 27, 1994 as a Deputy Sheriff assigned to our Patrol Division. Randy was promoted to Lieutenant on January 16, 2005. Randy was transferred from the Patrol Division to the Investigations Division where he supervised our Special Investigations Unit, which is a combined unit of law enforcement agencies from the Sheriff’s Office, Wausau Police, Everest Metro Police, and Colby-Abbotsford Police. The focus of this unit is to impact the controlled substance trafficking afflicting Marathon County.
Besides Randy’s regular job duties, he was very active in Department of Natural Resources safety programs pertaining to boating and hunting. Randy educated many area youth on safe practices in both of these areas. It was an easy effort for Randy as he is an outdoorsman enjoying many aspects of what Wisconsin has to offer.
Randy was instrumental in assisting me in my transition from being a Detective to being a Patrol Lieutenant leading the midnight shift. I had been out of the Patrol Division for about 12 years when I was promoted so many of the traffic related forms and paperwork had changed. Randy was on my shift and brought this green Lieutenant up to date on all I needed to know in regards to Wisconsin’s traffic laws. I was very grateful to Randy and appreciated his efforts to make me shine.
Congratulations Randy on 24 years of service to Marathon County. Enjoy your retirement. Find time to fish for musky, hunt for deer and bear, and enjoy life every day.
