County Road L (formerly County Road F) is planned to be under construction beginning Wednesdy July 31st. The project will extend from County Road O to County Road K as and between 5th Lane and STH 107.
Crews will be recycling the existing pavement into a gravel base, placing a new asphalt surface and placing new gravel shoulders. During the first 2-3 weeks of the project, the highway will have a gravel surface. Motorists can expect minor delays when they encounter construction crews. At times the road will have rough driving conditions. Crews plan to begin placing the new asphalt surface the week of August 19th. Asphalt paving is anticipated to last through the month of August. New gravel shoulders and pavement marking will be placed after the asphalt paving is complete. The project is expected to be completed in September.
During construction, the road will be posted with signs reading "ROAD CLOSED - LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY". Access will remain to all local residents and businesses during construction. Due to access being maintained and the variety of alternate routes available through this corridor, a detour route will not be posted for this project. For the safey of motorists and workers, drivers are asked to use alternate routes during construction and to reduce speeds when driving through the workzone.
Wisconsin Act 308 prohibits the use of hand held phones in workzones. Violators are subject to fines of $40 to $100 for using hand held phones in work zones. Use of mobile devices is a factor in one in four crashes nationwide. In 2014 in Wisconsin there was a crash every 20 minutes that was related to distracted driving. Please put it down, turn it off, put it on silent...it can wait.
