A child or youth with a special health care need is anyone under the age of 21 with a physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional condition that has or will probably last more than 12 months. The condition must also:
- restrict growth, development, or ability to engage in usual activities
- require specialized health care, psychological, or educational services of a type or amount beyond that required generally by children
The Regional Centers in Wisconsin believe that:
Children are best served within their families. Children and families are best supported within the context of their community. Families need to have convenient access to care coordinators. Collaboration is the best way to provide comprehensive services. Family perspectives and presence must be included in all aspects of the system.
The staff of the Northern Regional Center will work hard to meet the needs of families by focusing on the unique strengths of family members, responding to all requests in a timely manner, by finding resources as close to home as possible, and by working with local partners collaboratively to serve the children and their families.
