Subject: Mountain Bike and Horse Trail Closings and Youth Hunt

IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ken Krueger, Operations Superintendent – Customer Service, for the Wausau and Marathon County Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department has announced that all trails in the Nine Mile County Forest Recreation Area will close Thursday, October 15, 2009, to all mountain biking and horseback riding. The trails will open again between May 1 and May 15, 2010, contingent upon spring trail conditions. Mountain biking and horseback riding are still allowed in the other Marathon County forest units.
October 10 and October 11, 2009, is the Youth Hunt gun season. All persons using the Marathon County forests are highly encouraged to wear blaze orange clothing.
Also, the Burma ATV trails will remain closed during the months of October and November to ATV traffic due to the fall hunting seasons. These trails will open back up to ATVs on December 1, 2009.
