MARATHON PARK

1201 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Directions: Take US 51 north to Exit 192 (Stewart Avenue) in Wausau, east on Stewart Avenue 1/4 mile to park located at the intersection of 17th Ave. and Stewart Ave. Park entrance is on Stewart Ave. Ken Krueger, Operations Superintendent/Customer Service, 261-1570.

MEETING HALL (cedar sided building north of Little Red School House)

Enclosed Shelter: lights, coat rack, sink, counter, water, flush restrooms, 10 tables (under counter), 75 chairs, chalk board, slide screen, ceiling fans, 7 electrical outlets, back door, heat, fire extinguisher, windows with screens, phone jacks - 848-3297 (phone jack must be activated through phone co. at user's expense) Outside: No grills, 2-5 picnic tables, volleyball (provide your own net, tie to trees).

BIG KITCHEN

Enclosed Shelter: Front and back entrances, ash/coal pits, 4-burner stove top, sink, counter tops, hot water, refrigerator/freezer, 8 electrical outlets, exhaust fan, some windows w/screens. Covered wings: 20 tables, 2 electrical outlets, dumpster. Outside: 4 horseshoe pits, wood chip ground cover-no grass, blacktop area, scattered picnic tables outside.

AMPHITHEATER

Marathon Park's outdoor Amphitheater provides 4,090 permanent and comfortable theater-style seats - each with an unobstructed view (1,214 seats are under cover).  Up to 5,100 additional spectators can stand or 3,000 can sit on lawn chairs between the permanent seating and the stage.  When you add 1,130 lawn blanket seats and other standing room capacity, the Amphitheater can accommodate up to 10,000 spectators.

BANDSTAND

Steps up to shelter-not at ground level, handicapped accessible, waist high sides, electricity, picnic tables, few grills nearby, bathroom nearby.

MULTI-PURPOSE BUILDING #1         (Floor Plan)

Enclosed ice rink, dasher boards stay up, pay phone in the lobby, zamboni, bleachers, sideboards, 10 tables, 100 chairs (an additional 40 tables and 400 chairs are available for rent), heated, electrical drop cords, PA system, shares central lobby and restrooms with MPB 2.

MULTI-PURPOSE BUILDING #2        (Floor Plan)

Enclosed ice rink, infrared heat, bleachers, drop electrical lines, dasher boards stay up, cement floor, shares central lobby and restrooms with MPB 1. Available with 50 tables and 500 chairs for rentals during non-ice season.

CATTLE BARNS 1 & 2

Stanchions, lights, used for storage in winter, (the milk house is between barns 1 & 2 and the Fair Board owns and rents it out).

JUDGING PAVILION:

Round building, bathrooms, sink and toilets, bleachers, walkway to curling barn. This building is available for winter storage of travel trailers, boats and trailers from September 1st to May 1st annually.

CURLING BARN:

Open space (70' x 140'), large overhead door, electricity, restrooms, winter use-Curling Club.

POULTRY BARN

Electricity, storage.

EXHIBITION BUILDING

Fair Board office, Farm Museum on side of building, bathrooms, toilet, sink, drinking fountains, rotunda, north wing, storage in winter.

EAST GATE HALL (Formally Youth Building)         (Floor Plan)

Pay phone, ceiling fans, 50 tables, and 500 chairs (in sets of 3).  Building and restrooms are handicap accessible. Large kitchen area with 4 sinks, counter tops, cupboards, refrigerator and pass-through serving window, electricity, garbage can, cleaning supplies, soda vending machine, drinking fountain, heated, 2 picnic tables outside. Stone Wing: Electricity, tables and chairs, no water, heated handicap accessible.

OPEN SHELTERS

Open #1: by Stewart Avenue behind Splash Pad; grills, 4 built-in picnic tables.

Open #2: at entrance off Stewart Avenue; grills, picnic tables, next to play area.

Open #3: across from the campground; grills, picnic tables.

Open #4: off the parking lot west of grandstand; grills, picnic tables, next to a play area.

Open #5: overhang for new restroom building adjacent to grandstand. Reservable one month in advance, electricity and restrooms available for large events, picnic tables.
