Burma Forest ATV trails will remain open to ATVs (snowmobiles are prohibited) until they close on Monday, March 15, 2010. Please remember that this website is NOT updated every day and is updated when there are significant changes in trail conditions to report. BIG EAU PLEINE RESERVOIR WARNING The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Wisconsin Valley Improvement Company will start the aerator on Wednesday, February 17, 2010. As a result, ice near the aerator will be weakened and there might be open water. The aerator is located in a narrow stretch of the reservoir adjacent to Big Eau Pleine County Park southwest of Mosinee, WI. The DNR has installed rope barriers with flags and reflective signs near the aerator and posted warning signs at the boat landings to warn of the danger. The aerator will help to maintain oxygen levels in the water for fish populations. Water oxygen levels generally decrease during the winter months. Snow covering the ice blocks out sun light needed by algae to produce oxygen. The aerator should help fish survive during periods of oxygen depletion.
55 MPH is the night time speed limit everywhere in Wisconsin.
ATV riders are reminded to check a current map to see if the trails they want to use are open to ATV’s. Please remember that the trail system would not be there without the cooperation of landowners, leaving a designated trail and/or snowmobiling on someone’s property without permission is TRESPASSING.
Light Utility Vehicles (LUV’s, UTV's or Side-by-Side Utility Vehicles) All Marathon County ATV and snowmobile trails are closed to LUV’s.
LUV’s are not all-terrain vehicles and do not meet the statutory definition for an ATV and are therefore not permitted on ATV trails. LUV's include vehicles with trade names such as; Gators, Mules, Prowlers, Rangers, Rhinos and Argo's.
Marathon County trails are not capable of safely accommodating these off-highway vehicles. Existing trails are not wide enough for two-way traffic with these larger vehicles.
The privately owned Embarrass River ATV Park located in Shawano County may offer a LUV riding opportunity.
