Topic: Northwoods Emergency Preparedness Consortium
The Northwoods Consortium for Public Health Emergency Preparedness was established in the Fall of 2002 by fourteen Local Public Health Agencies to strengthen core expertise in public health preparedness. The Northwoods Consortium is located within the Marathon County Health Department, which serves as its fiscal agent. The consortium is funded by a CDC public health preparedness grant through a contract with the Wisconsin Division of Public Health. The Northwoods Consortium staff currently work with representatives of 21 member agencies, providing technical expertise and leadership in the development of comprehensive bioterrorism and emergency plans, including coordination with local, regional and state partners.
